The Barber of Seville - The Barber of Seville is a French play by Pierre Beaumarchais written in 1775, and originally entitled Le Barbier de Séville. A comic opera in two acts entitled Il Barbiere di Siviglia by Gioacchino Rossini was based on Beaumarchais's comedy with a libretto by Cesare Sterbini.
